On High Agency

I recently read one of the most impactful essays of my life: HighAgency.com
It breaks down a mindset that separates people who make things happen from those who just wait and wish.
It’s called High Agency.
At its core, it’s this:
“High Agency is when you take the world as it is — but refuse to accept it as it has to be.”
It’s the ability to look at a problem and say:“Okay… what can I do?”Instead of:“Oh well, that’s just how it is.”
And here’s the thing — most people never even realize they have that choice.
1. You Don’t Need Permission to Start
People wait around for the green light — a credential, a sign, a gatekeeper’s approval.
But High Agency people don’t wait.
They move.
They build.
They figure it out as they go.
Most breakthroughs don’t come from knowing the right path in advance. They come from walking into the fog and trusting you’ll find the next step.
2. You Don’t Have to Know What You’re Doing to Begin
You can send the pitch before you’ve ever sent a pitch.
You can build the product before you fully understand the process.
You can make a sale before you feel “ready.”
High Agency is about using what you have — right now.
It's not recklessness. It’s resourcefulness.
The difference between the people making money and the people waiting to start?Action.
3. Your Past Doesn’t Dictate Your Ceiling
People overvalue résumés and underestimate raw drive.
It’s easy to assume your background, education, or past mistakes disqualify you from doing something big.
But High Agency thinking says: Your value is in how you move forward — not where you started.
You’re not your credentials.
You’re your decisions.
4. Momentum > Motivation
High Agency people don’t wait to “feel inspired.”They start. And starting creates momentum — which fuels motivation.
You don’t need a 12-step plan.You need one step.

If you’re stuck, frozen, or overthinking… remember this:
The bar to win is shockingly low.
Most people never even try.
So do.
Move.
Build.
Figure it out.
That’s High Agency.
